ALOK VAID-MENON is an internationally acclaimed nonbinary writer, entertainer, and public speaker. Known for their expressive poetry and biting comedy Alok has charmed audiences across the world and emerged as a prominent voice in the transgender movement. Based in New York City, Alok regularly performs to sold-out houses at venues like The Museum of Modern Art, The Brooklyn Museum, and the Mercury Lounge. Alok was recently part of the HBO documentary The Trans List, the Public Theater’s Under the Radar Festival, and the Lincoln Center’s La Casita Festival. Their work has been featured by MTV, The Guardian, Buzzfeed, The New York Times, The New Yorker, TEDx, and more.

Writing & Performance Intensive

This is a guided creative workshop that takes participants from the page to the stage and back again. Alok will share best tips and strategies for both amateur and advanced performers to claim the space they deserve and maximize their performance potential. This workshop can be tailored for specific groups: queer people, queer people of color, etc.
